Heartleaf Houttuynia, also known as Herba Houttuyniae, Houttuynia cordata and Fishwort, is a herbal medicine in Chinese Pharmacopoeia.

Heartleaf Houttuynia is acrid in taste, cold in nature, and belongs to the lung meridian. Tang Susong said: "In wetlands, it can also grow in the shade of valleys. The leaves like buckwheat, and the stems are purple-red. Some people like to eat it raw.  Due to the leaves have a fishy smell, so it is commonly known as Fishwort.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that it has good heat-clearing, detoxifying and dampening effects. Houttuynia cordata contains houttuyniacin, and making tea with Houttuynia cordata has the effects of antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, improving immunity and preventing colds. It can be said to be an antibiotic in traditional Chinese medicine. In addition, Houttuynia cordata contains quercetin, which can expand renal arteries, increase blood and urine volume, and have a diuretic effect.

Our Heartleaf Houttuynia comes from farmers in the deep mountains and is grown by natural and organic methods. After being harvested every day, it is rinsed with well water. After cleansing, it is sun-dried and then selected and packaged. No preservatives or sulphur are added in the whole process. It’s fresh and safe to eat.

How to eat:
．Rinse with clean water first to remove surface dust
．For tea brewing, use approx. 10g of Heartleaf Houttuynia and brew into 500 ml of 80°C or above hot water for more than 20 minutes before drinking
．If boiling soup or water, use about 15 grams for 1 – 2 people, and use about 25 grams for 4 people. If time allows, soak it in water for 1-2 hours before boiling
．Since it is sulfur-free, the soaking water can be used as part of the soup
．Chinese herbal doctor recommends that the soup time should be within 1.5-2 hours, too long will cause the loss of nutrients

Storage method : Please store in a cool and dry place. Since it is sulfur free, if it is not consume in a short period, please store in the refrigerator.
